Following Mehmet Ozaseki, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca also resigned.
Haseki was replaced by his predecessor Murat Kurmı, while Koca was replaced by Istanbul Provincial Health Director General Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoglu.
The published decision stated that “Kemal Memişoğlu has been appointed to the Ministry of Health, Fahrettin Koca has been relieved of his position, Koca has applied for amnesty and the amnesty application has been accepted, and Murat Kurmı has been appointed to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change,” the position vacated by Mehmet Ozaseki in accordance with Articles 104 and 106 of the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey, and that he was appointed accordingly.”
Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Mehmet Ozaseki announced last night that he was stepping down due to “health problems”.
Koca, who is rumored to be stepping down, said: “What’s important is serving the country and the nation. “Whatever position you hold,” he said.
Kurm will serve in the same position from 2018 to 2023, after which he will run for mayor of Istanbul.
Memisoglu graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine in 1990. Specializing in general surgery in 1995, Memisoglu was appointed chief physician at PTT Hospital at the end of 2002 and became an associate professor of general surgery in 2008. Memisoglu has served as Istanbul Provincial Health Directorate since October 2016.
Minister Ozaseki submitted his resignation hours after saying he would “continue to do his job.”
