Angel Reese is already breaking WNBA records. On Sunday, the Chicago Sky rookie recorded her 10th consecutive double-double, setting a new league record. She did so just 17 games into her rookie season.
Reese recorded her 10th consecutive double-double with 10 points and 16 points in Sunday’s win over the Minnesota Lynx. The previous record was nine double-doubles set by Candace Parker of the Los Angeles Sparks in 2015.

The last time Reese did not record a double-double was on June 1, in a 71-70 loss to the Indiana Fever. Still, Reese finished with eight points and 13 rebounds that day.
Reese now has 11 double-doubles so far this season, the first of which came on May 28 when she recorded 11 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to the Seattle Storm. Not a bad start to a rookie’s WNBA career.
Additionally, Reese is the only rookie in the WNBA averaging a double-double this season. Through the Sky’s first 17 games, the former LSU star is averaging 13.3 points and 11.4 rebounds per game, along with 2.0 assists and 1.6 steals per game.
After Sunday’s show, Reese tweeted about the joy of performing in Chicago.
“I will say it every day and twice on Sunday,” Reese wrote. “Win or lose, I am very happy to be selected seventh overall by the Chicago Sky.”
With Reese and fellow rookie Camila Cardozo both being selected by the Sky in the first round of the 2024 WNBA Draft, the future looks incredibly bright for Chicago, and with Reese also breaking a WNBA record in her 17th career game, you can imagine what the future holds.
