June 27, 2024
CHICAGO – Marquee Sports Network announced today that the Cubs vs. Angels telecast on July 7 will feature a three-woman crew: Beth Mowins (play-by-play), Elise Menaker (game commentary) and Taylor McGregor (field reporter), marking the first all-female broadcast in Cubs history.
As part of the historic broadcast, Marquee Sports Network will celebrate women in baseball throughout its pre-game and post-game programming, as well as its social and digital platforms. Marquee Sports Network will also feature play-by-play commentary submitted by young Cubs fans across its platforms and will provide opportunities for fans to engage with broadcasters via social media prior to the start of the game.
“Beth, Elise and Taylor are doing a fantastic job with Marquee Sports Network, and the combination of their exceptional skills from the field to the broadcast booth represents another ‘first’ in Cubs history and another opportunity for our team to serve our fans in a meaningful and memorable way,” said Diane Penny, general manager, Marquee Sports Network. “We look forward to some great broadcasts and have no doubt they will continue to inspire the next generation of announcers.”
About Beth Mowins
Mowins has served as the play-by-play announcer for select Cubs games since 2021 as the first woman in Chicago Cubs history. She was a longtime announcer for ESPN, primarily calling men’s and women’s college sports, and in 2017 became the first woman in 30 years to call an NFL game. A 1989 graduate of Lafayette College, Mowins was a three-time All-Conference basketball selection and a member of the Lafayette College Maroon Club Hall of Fame.
“Ellis and Taylor are great people to work with and I’m glad we had the opportunity to work together on this historic Cubs broadcast,” Mowins said. “It’s always an honor to work in the broadcast booth at Wrigley Field and we’re all looking forward to this special broadcast.”
About Elise Menaker
Menaker joined Marquee Sports Network in February 2020 as a field reporter and studio host, contributing to game coverage and hosting pre-game and post-game shows. In 2022, Menaker will become the first woman to serve as a television commentator for a Cubs game, and in 2023, she will become the first woman to serve as a radio commentator for a Cubs game. Menaker graduated from Cornell University, where she was a four-year starter on the softball team and was inducted into the Cornell Athletic Hall of Fame in 2020.
“I am truly looking forward to working with Beth and Taylor on this special day at Wrigley Field,” said Menaker. “I am thrilled to share this broadcast with Cubs fans, especially the young girls who dream of one day attending this great game. My mother always said you can achieve whatever wildest dream you have, and I hope to inspire young girls and boys to do the same — dream big.”
About Taylor McGregor
McGregor joined Marquee Sports Network when it launched in 2020 and serves as the main field reporter for Chicago Cubs games. McGregor previously served as the on-field reporter for the Colorado Rockies for AT&T Sports Net Rocky Mountain for two seasons and has also worked as a host for MLB Network and broadcast college football games for ESPN in the fall. A graduate of the University of Arkansas, McGregor is a native of Golden, Colorado.
“It’s always a pleasure to work with Beth and Elise and I’m so excited to be a part of this first-ever all-female broadcast,” said McGregor. “I always appreciate the opportunity to show young fans, especially girls, that there are many opportunities in the game of baseball and this broadcast will be a great showcase of that.”
