IMM Chairman Ekrem Imamoglu attended the badge presentation ceremony for Istanbul Metro. After the ceremony, in response to questions from journalists, Imamoglu made a statement about the efforts of the public transport system in the archipelago.
Imamoglu said:
“Neither I nor my colleagues can act in a way that undermines the high-level and sincere dialogue with the people of the island, who know best what populist and participatory model we are managing in the process of removing the vehicles from the island. “Listening to the people’s reactions is our most important quality in our understanding of politics, and we understand that we must provide public transport. 70% of the island’s population is middle-aged and elderly, and they are bound to have access to cemeteries, hospitals and public institutions. Public transport has a set vehicle and during this period no other vehicles can be allowed. Since then, we have been working hard to design a vehicle that is suitable for the island. We continue to work on producing licensable vehicles of different designs, but at the moment there is no possibility of doing so. “The vehicles currently in operation are those used in the historical centres of historical cities such as Rome.
