The Chicago White Sox lost 2-1 to the Detroit Tigers on Friday night despite another great start from All-Star candidate Erick Fedde.
Fedde, who signed with the White Sox this offseason after a standout season in Korea, has given up just two earned runs on five hits in 7.0 innings, with one walk and three strikeouts. He is currently 5-2 with a 3.05 ERA.
The White Sox may have the worst record in baseball, but they’ve actually won a lot with Fedde pitching, and the team is on track to set a new record in baseball history over the past 100 years.
According to @OptaSTATS:
65.0% (13/20) of @WhiteSox team wins have come in games where Garrett Crochet or Eric Feddy started.
The last team to have at least 65.0% of a season’s wins come with two starting pitchers was the 1921 Chicago White Sox (67.7%, Red Faber and Dickey Carr).

While this is not a very desirable statistic and the team would like to see more depth in the rotation and the ability to win more often than the White Sox (20-57), it is still good to see both Fedde and Clochet putting in some consistently solid performances.
It’s unclear if the White Sox have a chance to continue building on this performance for much longer, as both pitchers could be traded at the trade deadline — Fedde is under contract for one more season, while Crochet is under contract through 2026 — and both players would be highly desirable if the White Sox were to move them.
