A witness who saw a person lying motionless on the ground in the 13th Mart area of Mardin’s Artuklu district reported the situation to the 112 emergency call center.

Following the call, health and police teams were dispatched to the area and the body was identified as Resul Derin (40). Despite efforts by doctors from Mardin Training and Research Hospital, Derin was unable to be saved and after first aid he was transported to hospital.

Police investigated the incident and detained two suspects.

Derin, whose death was determined to have been caused by a blow from a hammer, was a father of six and worked for the Mardin Metropolitan Municipality.

Resul Derin’s body was handed over to his relatives after an autopsy and buried in Subhas area of Derik district in the countryside.

While the suspects were being processed at the police station, it was learnt that the incident arose out of enmity which erupted after a fight that took place about a year ago left two people injured.

Camera images released
Images were released of the moment Dehlin was killed with a sledgehammer.

Security camera footage from her workplace showed Delynn walking down the street when two men ran up behind her and began hitting her with small hammers.

The suspects punched Dehlin multiple times, causing him to fall to the ground after the first blow, and then fled the scene as bystanders arrived on the scene.
