Before you pick up your puffer jacket and beanie, there are a few important things you should know.
Bad weather and snowfall may affect road conditions. Drive carefully and obey all road closures. Check the city services website for the latest road closures. Some parks and reserves, including Namadgi National Park and campgrounds, may close at short notice. Visit the Parks ACT website before traveling. If you are travelling to areas where it snows, don’t forget snow chains for your car. You should have the right size chains and know how to fit them to your vehicle. Adapt your speed to the weather. Slow down if conditions worsen. Take particular care in foggy, snowy and icy conditions. Drive with low beam headlights during the day to make yourself more visible to other road users. Lighting can be poor around mountains, especially in winter.
