The Ministry of Justice reported that Judge Gül A., who was allegedly involved in a case of blackmail and extortion while working at the Adana court, has been suspended and dismissed due to separate allegations.
The ministry’s statement included the information that “Judge Gül A., who was allegedly involved in cases of blackmail and extortion while working at the Adana Court, was suspended for these actions, which she carried out using the influence and reputation of the court. Her occupation was found to be unjust and she was fired due to other allegations.”
A female judge allegedly accepted a 500 million lira bribe to release a fuel smuggler who had threatened to kill a man with whom he was having an affair and used drugs while in judicial custody.
In response to these allegations, the Judges’ Committee and the Public Prosecutor’s Office launched investigations into the judges.
According to Sabah, the judge had been having an affair with the caretaker of the workplace where she lived. Her boyfriend wanted to break up with the judge, but people who came to her workplace threatened to kill her, so she filed a criminal complaint against the judge.
An investigation carried out on the judge, for which the HSK First Court granted permission to investigate, found that he had received 500 million lira for the acquittal of a person on trial for fuel smuggling while working in Edirne.
It was found that Judge Gul A. obtained narcotic tablets from a private hospital without a prescription and that during the pandemic period, the Deputy Attorney General used narcotics received from the Judicial Trust, drank alcohol and participated in partying.
