The Supreme Council for the Protection of Cultural and Natural Heritage states that “the Regional Governor’s Office, the military, the local authorities and their associated forces will provide limited amounts for health, fire brigade, cleaning and security services” and “in cases of need, they will also provide public services.” Decisions of the Forestry Administration, İski, İdaş, İgdaş and others, dated 1999, 2009 and 2013, state that motorized traffic is prohibited in the area, except for vehicles available to the providing organizations. They appealed to the relevant administrative authorities that the important features of the island will not be damaged, even if only partially, and are still in force.
According to Article 3 of the Road Traffic Act, electric vehicles are equivalent to automobiles.
Electric minibuses under the IETT Directorate began operating in Büyükada on June 15. The islanders, who did not want the minibuses from the start, started protesting and reminded IMM officials of their pre-election promises. The IMM then reported the matter to the police. The police who arrived at the scene pushed the islanders away and detained them. During the demonstration, Ali Turul Küçükarlioğlu, head of the IETT Metrobus and Electric Transport Department, could not contain his anger towards the citizens and ordered the police “like prosecutors” to detain them.
The islanders continue their resistance in the name of minibuses, known as “Azman buses,” which the IMM brings to the island in “midnight operations” while the islanders are asleep.
The islanders are standing up: Azman buses from Levent Kazak to Imamoğlu should be expelled immediately: police intervention against those who do not want minibuses on the island should not remain in words, brothers. Like the prosecutor’s instructions from the IETT chairman: accept this
