The US State Department statement condemned Dodik’s continuing attempts to undermine peace in the region and noted that he has used his public office to increase his personal income.
According to AA News, the statement said that within this framework, it was decided to impose sanctions on two individuals and seven organisations that provided large amounts of income to Dodik’s “network of connections” and supported the corruption carried out by Dodik.
“Dodik continues to be an actor of regional instability,” the statement said, noting that by attacking Bosnia-Herzegovina’s constitutional framework, he was threatening the country’s future in the Euro-Atlantic institutions.
