According to news from T24’s Tolga Şardan, following the findings of an investigation into Mesut Özalçlan, a CHP member who was elected mayor of the city of Keçioren, the Ministry of the Interior stepped in and opened an investigation into Turgut Altunok.
Inspectors reportedly found that Altunok had paid for fuel for his car from the city of Kecilloren and spent a lot of money on media promotion during his candidacy.
The monetary value of the fuel provided by the AKP for election vehicles was stated to be around 6 million lira.
The Interior Ministry’s inspector general, who launched an investigation into the city, said he had suspended the city’s cleaning and transportation director, SK.
It was again alleged that Altunok, which opened TV and radio channels despite being a municipality, spent 4.5 million liras on developing the infrastructure for both institutions over a period of three and a half years, with the salaries of the staff paid for by the municipality. It was also alleged that Altunok spent a large amount of its budget on printing works and large billboards in the area.
