SUMTER, SC (WIS) – A Midland woman had a frightening experience while driving her truck on Interstate 20 Saturday evening.
The truck she was in caught fire around 8 p.m. while towing a trailer for a Sumter food truck.
Michelle Green, an employee of Baby Suzie’s Chicken Fry food truck, was injured when her vehicle caught fire while she was traveling with two other employees toward Sumter.
Today, she said she is grateful to be alive.
“I feel blessed, I feel privileged and I feel very blessed,” she said.
“Everybody was scared. Jessica was driving good. She pulled over to the side of the road and I thought the truck slowed down enough…I don’t know if it was the wind speed or something but I got thrown off the truck and the trailer ran over my feet. All I remember is flipping over on the sidewalk,” Green said.
Green now suffers from two broken toes and road burns to his face, shoulders and knees.
Chris Wilson-Davis, owner of Baby Suzie’s Chicken Fry Food Truck, said the truck was insured but he’s waiting to see how much the damage will cost.
Davis said the company is currently renting another truck to transport the mobile restaurant to other locations.
