Yavuz Güngöl, the suspect in the murder of Sedef Güler, whose body was found wrapped in a carpet and with weights attached to her feet in the sea of Büyükçekmece, was sent to court after questioning in Istanbul. In his statement to the police, the suspect admitted that after consuming alcohol and drugs, he woke up in the morning and realized that Güler was not breathing, so he and his friends wrapped him in the carpet. He got scared and threw himself into the sea.
Yavuz Güngöl, suspected in the murder of Sedef Güler, whose body was found wrapped in a carpet in the sea at Büyükçekmece in Istanbul, was wanted everywhere. Searches were conducted in 14 locations in Istanbul where the suspect could be hiding, but he was not found. Intelligence showed that Yavuz Güngöl had made contact with human traffickers and had travelled to Edirne to flee the country, so operations were shifted in this direction. Yavuz Güngöl was caught by the Gendarmerie, who carried out an operation in the village of Erçili in Edirne.
He claimed he died from natural oils.
Interrogation of suspect Yavuz Güngöl, who was taken to the Istanbul General Security Directorate, ended in the morning. In a statement, the suspect denied the murder charges and said that Sedef Güler died of natural causes. The suspect explained that he had consumed alcohol and drugs with Sedef Güler and panicked when he woke up in the morning to find the young woman not breathing. “I decided to dispose of the body,” he called a friend, who was said to have made a plan together, wrapping the body in a carpet and dumping it in the sea.
He was wanted for eight years and four months in prison.
As a result of the police investigation, the suspect was sentenced to eight years and four months in prison for “trafficking or trafficking in narcotics and stimulants.” It was also discovered that Yavuz Güngöl was wanted for “escape of prisoners and detainees,” “purchase, transportation, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition,” “trafficking or supplying narcotics or stimulants,” and “intentional homicide.”

Yavuz Güngöl was processed at the police station and sent to court. While he was being taken to court, he refused to answer the question, “Did you kill him?” and was released on suspended sentence.

An investigation by the Homicide Bureau revealed the last image of Sedef Güler, which shows him and Yavuz G. walking together to the house where the murder took place at 1:48 a.m. on June 5, 2024.
Around 11 hours after these images, at 13:40, Firat B is seen on the same security camera, this time holding a bag in his hand.
