“I remember as a young actress watching Janet McTeer leap onto the stage in A Doll’s House in the theater where I now live,” she said, “and one night backstage I think of her indelible impact. The walls of theaters across this magical city are filled with the influence of each and every one of you in this room and all those who came before. And how fortunate we are that these walls bear witness to the relentless interrogation of the human experience that we seek for each other every night, and that we strive to give back to each other with the hope of finding a common path to the truth of living. This is the heart and soul of our work, and I am so honored to be among you all.”
