Murat Soydan was born in the Lüleburgaz district of Kirklareli on October 2, 1940. The actor, whose real name was Luşan Terkan, attended primary and secondary school in Lüleburgaz and high school in Edirne.
Soydan came to Istanbul for university, studied at the Academy of Economic Sciences and graduated from the Turkish Music Department at the Istanbul Municipal Conservatory. He also worked as a civil servant in Teker during his time at university.
After completing his military service as a reserve officer, he entered the film industry after winning a competition held by the magazine Perde in 1966 together with Tanju Korel.
He began his film career in 1966 with the film “Armless Hero” directed by Nejat Saydam, whose cast also included Chuneyt Arkin, Fatma Gilik and Susan Avci. One of the young actors of the 1970s, Murat Soydan played leading roles with Turkan Şoray and Hülya Kocit in many films.
