DUBALE – The prosecutor who issued his opinion in the case of Ogun Samast, the murderer of Frant Dink, currently on trial for allegedly committing crimes for “FETO”, requested that the case be dismissed due to seven statutes of limitations. The defendants include Ogun Samast. The case was postponed to October 16. After making his defense at the hearing, Samast left the court waving a rosary and left the court in a waiting car.
The case brought against Ogun Samast, the murderer of Agos newspaper editor-in-chief and Birgün writer Hrant Dink, for “not being a member of an armed terrorist organization” and for “committing crimes on behalf of FETO” continues and will be heard after his release.
Ogun Samast, the mastermind behind the assassination of Frant Dink, was released from Bor F-Type Prison on November 15, 2023 as part of a conditional release.
He is on trial facing up to 10 years in prison.
Following his release, the Istanbul Chief Prosecutor’s Office closed its investigation into Samast on charges of “committing crimes on behalf of an armed terrorist organization when not a member of it” and indicted him on November 17. The indictment called for a prison sentence of five to ten years for Ogun Samast.
The file was later merged with a case in which 11 defendants, including Yasin Hayal and Erhan Tuncel, were tried at Istanbul’s 14th High Criminal Court on legal and actual contact grounds.
Ogün Samast came to the Trabzon Court through SEGBİS to attend a hearing at the Istanbul 14th High Criminal Court.
He asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed against seven defendants, including Samast, on statute of limitations grounds.
The court committee adjourned the hearing to October 16 at 10 a.m. to give the defendants time to prepare their defence.
After presenting his defense at the hearing, Samast left the courthouse waving a rosary and got into a waiting car to leave the courthouse.
