At least four people were shot after an altercation at a food court in downtown Atlanta, police said.
Atlanta police said one of the people shot was the suspect, while the other three victims were conscious and breathing.
The horrific scene unfolded at around 2pm on Tuesday at the Peachtree Center in downtown Atlanta, where police were called to the scene after reports of people being shot. Multiple officers were present inside the building an hour after the shooting.
Authorities have not released the names of those injured in the shooting, who have been identified as a 47-year-old man, a 69-year-old woman and a 70-year-old woman.
The suspect, identified only as a 34-year-old convicted felon, was involved in an argument with another person and shot the person he was arguing with, then continued firing, police said.
Police then opened fire, wounding the suspect.

Witnesses described the shooting to local news stations.
“I heard one shot, then someone dropped something, then I heard another, then another, then another,” witness Kemba Walker Jr. told WSB-TV. “Then I saw people scattering and running around.”
Walker said he had taken his girlfriend to a back room in the building’s passport office where he found someone on the ground. The shooting lasted about 25 to 30 minutes and he heard about 25 gunshots.
Peachtree Center remained on lockdown for several hours after the shooting and people were urged to avoid the area. Atlanta police and firefighters responded to the scene, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation also responded to help.
The centre includes six office buildings and a shopping mall.
