Teoscar Hernandez stole the show during the weekend series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees, combining with Kiké Hernandez on Saturday for the first MLB-record 11-3 win.
Teoscar hit a solo home run and a grand slam, and Kiké also hit an extra-base hit — the first time in MLB history that two players named Hernandez hit home runs in the same game.
Teoscar Hernandez had multiple hits in every game against the Yankees, totaling 6 for 12 with 2 doubles, 3 home runs and 7 RBIs.
On Friday night, Hernandez hit a two-run double in the 11th inning to lead the Dodgers to victory.
He also hit a solo home run in the second inning on Saturday to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead, then turned the game around with a grand slam in the eighth.
Hernandez capped off a big weekend with a game-winning home run in the sixth inning, but Tyler Glasnow couldn’t hold on to the lead and the Dodgers had to settle for a win short of a series sweep.
Hernandez became the first player to hit three home runs and have nine RBIs in a series against the Yankees since 2019. The last player to accomplish this feat was Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox.
Kiké Hernández didn’t have a particularly prolific weekend, but he did get a hit in two of the three games he played. He was one of the Dodgers players who raved about the atmosphere at Yankee Stadium.
Teoscar Hernandez embraces the moment
The Dodgers’ big free agent spending was focused primarily on Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, but the acquisition of Hernandez was also a key addition.
Hernandez has always spoken highly of getting the opportunity to play for the Dodgers, and last weekend’s game was a chance for him to show just how much he enjoys playing in the big game.
