RM’s new album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” has debuted on the Billboard charts and become an instant commercial success. The BTS leader’s latest solo work has made it into the top 10 of every chart it has reached, with the song peaking at the all-important chart, propelling the singer to make history and join one of his bandmates.
Right Place, Wrong Person debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200. It marks RM’s second time to enter the top 10 on the list of most-consumed albums in the U.S., tying his all-time record with two wins in the region.
RM now becomes just the second Korean solo musician to rank multiple times in the top 10 of the Billboard 200. With double the number of appearances from No. 1 to No. 10, he’s tied with BTS bandmate J-Hope for the most wins of all time in the category.
The BTS frontman entered the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for the first time in late 2022 with his solo album “Indigo,” which initially started outside the top ranks but eventually rose to No. 3.
J-Hope also earned his first top 10 album on this list in 2022. That year, Jack in the Box ranked at No. 6. Just a few months ago, his next EP Hope on the Street, Vol. 1 reached No. 5, taking him to new heights.
Four solo musicians from South Korea have also charted on the highest peak of the Billboard 200, but so far, all have only made it onto the chart once. Three members of BTS — Jimin, Suga and Jungkook — have accomplished the same feat, as has Nayeon, who is best known as the singer of the girl group TWICE.
The Billboard 200 was actually the lowest chart that Right Place, Wrong Person debuted on, propelling RM to the top of the Top Rap Albums list for the first time in his career. The project also debuted at No. 2 on the Top Album Sales rankings.
In its first tracking frame, Right Place, Wrong Person sold 53,612 equivalent units. This total was primarily pure sales, with the title selling just under 43,000 copies in its first seven days on sale in the United States.
