The summer season in Turkiye started with scorching heat above seasonal norms. The heat wave gave way to rain showers in 13 provinces. A statement from the Meteorological Department drew attention to the negative meteorological aspects.
The provinces that the Meteorological Directorate issued a code yellow warning for were Artvin, Erzincan, Erzurum, Giresun, Gümüshhane, Kars, Kayseri, Nīde, Rize, Sivas, Trabzon, Bayburt and Ardahan.
“Heavy rains are expected in some areas in the eastern Black Sea hinterland, northern eastern Anatolia, around Nijede, Kayseri and Sivas, which may cause flooding, flooding, lightning, localized hail and rain showers,” the statement said. “During the rains, strong winds and short storms are possible. Please be cautious of adverse effects such as transportation disruptions,” it said.
How is the weather in the country today?
According to the latest assessment made by the Meteorological Directorate, the southern, central and eastern parts of the country will be partly cloudy at times, very cloudy at times, in the Eastern Black Sea, Eastern Anatolia, Aksaray, Nevşehir, Nigede, Yozgat, Kayseri, Sivas, Adana, Hatay, Osmaniye, Ordu and Tokat, localized showers and thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Mediterranean Syrt and Taurus Mountains, while other places will be partly cloudy or sunny. In the interior of the Eastern Black Sea region, in the northern part of Eastern Anatolia, around Nigede, Kayseri and Sivas, heavy rainfall in places is expected. Transport of sand and dust is estimated to be observed in the southeastern Anatolia region and the southeastern part of Eastern Anatolia.
Temperatures: Expected to be above seasonal normal along the Marmara, Aegean, Mediterranean and Black Sea coasts, and close to seasonal normal elsewhere.
Wind: Northerly winds will be mostly light, sometimes slightly strong, and in areas where it rains, they will blow strongly at times.
