Meteorologist Abdullah Machit from the General Directorate of Meteorology made a statement on the new heatwave affecting Turkey. Machit said that precipitation will decrease across the country next week, and that extreme temperatures will affect 81 provinces. Starting next Wednesday, temperatures will be higher than normal.
Turkiye began suffering from abnormal temperatures from June 1. Although the temperature has decreased in the past two days, a new heat wave will affect the country next week. Meteorologist Abdullah Makit of the General Directorate of Meteorology issued a statement on the new heat wave expected next week, warning that temperatures will exceed seasonal norms.
Sweltering heat affects the whole country
Meteorologist Macit announced that there will be less rain in Turkey from tomorrow. Foreign Minister Macit said that there will be rain next week, especially in the east, but not in the west, and that rain is expected in the east of Eastern Anatolia and east of the Black Sea. In other places, the weather will be above the seasonal norm and there will be no rain.
Machit said temperatures would remain within seasonal norms until Tuesday, and as of Wednesday temperatures would rise by 2-5 degrees above seasonal norms. The meteorologist added that there would be no heavy rainfall in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir as of Sunday.
What will the weather be like today and tomorrow?
The Meteorological Directorate issued a daily weather forecast. According to the new data released, temperatures across the country will remain at seasonal normal today and tomorrow. Localized thunderstorms are expected in the Central Anatolian region, the inner Mediterranean, the Eastern Anatolian region, the Eastern Black Sea, the inner Western and Central Black Sea, and around Diyarbakir. Heavy rains will fall in the areas of Cankiri Eskişehir, Ankara, Afyonkarahisar, Yozgat, Kırşehir, Kırkkale, Konya, Boru and around Çorum. Again, very heavy rains are expected in the southern areas around Karabük, Ardahan, Kars, Erzurum, Bayburt, Ağrı, and around Artvin and Rize.
