The Georgia baseball team is two wins away from making its first College World Series appearance since 2008.
The Bulldogs (42-15), seeded seventh in the nation, will face 10th seed North Carolina State (36-20) in a best-of-three series in the Athens Super Regional. Game 1 is scheduled for noon ET on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated rival Georgia Tech 8-6 in 10 innings in the Athens Regional to advance to the Super Regional round for the first time since 2008.

Did the Georgia baseball team win the College World Series?
Georgia won the College World Series in 1990, the first and only championship in the school’s history. As the No. 4 seed, the Bulldogs went 4-1 in the Northeast Regional Tournament in Waterbury, Connecticut, including a 20-9 win over Rutgers in the regional finals as the No. 2 seed in the region.
In the World Series, Georgia defeated No. 5 Mississippi State and then No. 1 Stanford. In the semifinals, the Cardinal won Game 1, 4-2, but the Bulldogs beat Stanford, 5-1, to advance to the Finals. The Bulldogs defeated No. 3 Oklahoma State, 2-1, to win the national championship. Mike Rebhan was named CWS Most Valuable Player.
Georgia Baseball CWS History
The Bulldogs had appeared in the CWS once before the tournament moved to a Super Regional format in 1999. Georgia has appeared in the CWS Championship Series twice, finishing as runner-up once and winning the national championship in 1990.

Coming off a 3-0 record in the Athens Regional, the Bulldogs have an overall record of 55-34 (62%) in 24 postseason appearances and will play in the Super Regional round of the NCAA Tournament in 2024, according to Georgia’s media guide.
