Fenerbahce’s Polish player Sebastian Szymanski answered questions from reporters at the national team camp.
Sebastian Szymanski assessed the yellow and navy team’s previous season, saying: “We can consider this season successful, but we didn’t win the championship. For the first time in history we got 99 points and didn’t become champions. Only in this respect can it be felt that the season was not completely successful. “We did everything, but unfortunately it didn’t work out,” he said.
Jose Mourinho’s statement
Szymanski said that Jose Mourinho, whom Fenerbahce appointed as manager, is a very important person, saying, “Mourinho is one of the greatest managers in football. I never thought he would come to my club. I think he would fit in with Turkish football. There is a lot of passion in Turkey and Mourinho loves it. I haven’t spoken to him yet. He has a lot to do and I’m with the national team. We have plenty of time to talk. We will have more time to talk. I asked Nikola (Zalewski) about him. “I’m happy to have such a person join my club, but now I want to focus on the national team, our plans and training,” he said.
“If I stay at Fenerbahce I have nothing to lose”
When asked about his future at Fenerbahce, the 25-year-old said: “I can’t say anything right now. I’m focused on the national team. Of course, after such a good season and with Mourinho’s arrival, I wouldn’t lose anything by staying at Fenerbahce. “Of course, anything can happen and you can’t be sure of anything, but I’m happy with the situation,” he replied.
