Superstar singer Justin Bieber is known for his boyish good looks, but cosmetic surgeons believe he may have recently received a little “help” to achieve a key part of his youthful appearance.
In a new revealing video clip, New York City plastic surgeon Dr. Gary Linkoff has revealed compelling evidence that Bieber, 30, underwent hair transplant surgery to restore volume to his hair.
Dr. Linkoff shows two intriguing images that suggest the singer’s hairline has undergone a miraculous transformation over the course of two years.
That would also explain why, over the last few years, the star has rarely been photographed without a hat or his head covered by a hood.
In one photo taken at the 2022 Super Bowl in Inglewood, California, Bieber, who is married to model and influencer Hailey Bieber, 27, is seen with a shaved head, a receding hairline and what appears to be significant thinning hair.
But in another photo shared by the star earlier this week, his hair looks incredibly lush, with a straight, even hairline.
The new hairline was shown off again at the Super Bowl in California in February 2022. This week, Bieber posted a photo on Instagram of himself with a fuller hairline that is straighter and more forward, which surgeons say suggests a hair transplant. In this photo taken in New York in July 2018, Bieber was photographed with long hair, but the sides of his scalp again showed signs of a receding hairline.
“Looking at his forehead,” surgeon Dr. Gary Linkoff said, [the hairline is now] It’s much flatter and there’s no recession.
When your hair is wet, [hairline]so it seems like he may have had a transplant.”
Added New York City plastic surgeon Dr. Jim Harris: “There is no medication that can restore a receding hairline. [photos]Maybe he had a hair transplant.”
Experts also point out that Bieber often appears in public wearing a hat or hoodie, which may have concealed obvious hair regrowth following a hair transplant.
“He started wearing these hats,” Dr. Linkoff said. [in 2022] He has his hair covered so you can’t see what’s going on.
“And remember, hair transplants can take a year, or even a year and a half, to see final results.”
“We noticed that in the 2023 photos, Justin’s hairline appears flatter,” Dr. Harris said.
“A few years earlier, in 2018, his bangs had noticeably receded and his hairline was wavy. [But] Now it sits flatter on the forehead and has a straighter line.
Surgeons said Bieber likely underwent follicular unit extraction (FUE) to replace lost hair, especially around the upper corners of his face.
In this procedure, doctors harvest hair follicles from the back of the head and transplant them to the front of the head to replace lost hair.
The procedure can be performed in a way that hides scars on the back of the head, making it difficult to tell that you have had the procedure.
Dr. Linkoff estimates that Bieber implanted up to 1,800 follicles, more than the usual amount of 500 to 1,500.
Bieber was photographed in Brooklyn, New York in September 2021. He also attended the Met Gala in September 2021. Bieber has been photographed wearing the hat on multiple occasions, such as in this photo taken in Los Angeles in November 2022. He was also photographed wearing the hat while out and about in New York City in January 2023.
It’s estimated that around 85 percent of men, including Bieber, suffer from some form of hair loss at some point in their lives, known as male pattern baldness.
This is a condition in which hair follicles on the front or top of the head begin to shrink and die, and is often linked to hormonal changes that come with age.
Other celebrities who appear to have undergone similar treatment include singer Machine Gun Kelly, 34, and Prince Harry, 39.
Bieber first showed signs of thinning hair in 2017, when he was 23. Surgeons said they saw signs of a receding hairline.
They called it male pattern baldness, a condition in which hair follicles shrink over time due to hormonal changes that shorten the hair growth cycle.
In 2021, Bieber was photographed sporting dreadlocks, but surgeons warned that they could cause traction alopecia – a type of hair loss caused by prolonged tension or pulling on the hair follicles.
In 2022, he was photographed with a dramatic reversal of his hairline on either side of his front head.
In 2016, it was reported that Bieber, then 21, was suffering from hair problems due to his bleached blonde hair, which caused some of his hair to “fall out in clumps.”
Bieber previously criticised Prince William’s receding hairline, saying: “I mean, there are preventative measures now like Propecia. [a hair loss drug].
“I don’t know why he doesn’t get those things, those products… Don’t we have them here?”
