Al Hilal and Al Nasr faced off in the Saudi Arabia King’s Cup final. The match, played at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, ended 1-1 after normal time and extra time. Al Hilal took the lead in the 7th minute with a goal from Mitrovic before Ayman Yahya equalised for Al Nasr in the 88th minute.
Al Nasr goalkeeper Ospina received a red card in the 56th minute, while Al Hilal’s Al Brairi and Koulibaly received a red card in the 87th and 90th minutes, respectively.
The winner was decided by penalties
After a 1–1 draw, no goals were scored in extra time and the match went into a penalty shootout. The first five penalties ended in a 4–4 draw. A missed penalty by Al Hilal gave Al Nasr a chance to win the cup, but they also missed. On the seventh penalty kick, Al Hilal scored, and a miss by Al Nasr gave them the cup.
A trilogy by Jorge Jesus!
Jorge Jesus, who took charge of Fenerbahçe in the 2022/23 season, also managed to win the Copa del Rey after finishing the league as unbeaten champions as manager of Al Hilal, while Jesus’ team also won the Saudi Arabian Cup.
Ronaldo couldn’t hold back the tears.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who was often on screen during the penalty shootout and drew attention for his excitement, was unable to hold back the tears after losing the cup. First, the Portuguese star collapsed to the ground in the middle rounds and cried for several minutes. Then the 39-year-old footballer went to the bench and continued to cry there.
