Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star Corbin Carroll has struggled this season, but he still found a way to add another chapter to the team’s history in May.
According to @JayHayKid of the “Baseball is Dead” podcast on social media:
Corbin Carroll is the first Diamondbacks player to hit four triples in the month of May since Justin Upton in 2009.

Carroll hit .285 with 25 home runs and 54 stolen bases last season, but is batting .191 with a .563 OPS this season. But even with his struggles, he still has good speed and has hit four triples. He currently leads the NL in triples, four of which came this month. He also led the NL in triples with 10 last season.
The reigning Rookie of the Year is unlikely to make a back-to-back All-Star Game, but the Diamondbacks need him to perform if they want to get back into the championship game. Arizona played in the World Series last season, but entered Friday’s game 25-31 and in fourth place in the NL West. They’re also 3.5 games out of the NL Wild Card race, so while it’s still early to tell, the front office will likely be deciding whether to buy or sell at the trade deadline in the coming weeks.
Arizona hits the road this weekend for a series against the New York Mets at Citi Field, with first pitch on Friday at 7:10 pm ET.
