When we think about the travel destinations we’re most excited about in 2024, we see a whole range of possibilities.
As the last corner of Asia fully reopened its borders earlier this year, the impact of the pandemic on our travels finally faded. As travelers, we can now look to adventures that take us further afield than ever before, revisit our bucket lists, and in many cases, return to places we love and miss. The world remains in many ways an unpredictable and complex place. But as we remind ourselves that travel is the greatest luxury, we cannot help but ask the question: What to do with our enviable ability to traverse the globe in 2024? Where to go first, we wonder.
There are plenty of compelling reasons to travel far and wide in the year ahead. As emerging boutique hotels, wellness resorts and expedition cruises compete for traveler bookings with new offerings, they are being forced to carefully consider what it means to be relevant, appealing and sustainable. Destinations are turning to everything from pioneering ecotourism efforts to land stewardship restoration efforts, giving back to indigenous communities the stories that connect their past and future. And as for us travelers? We can take our pick.
To help you find a trip worth taking on a vacation, we worked with Condé Nast Traveler editors from around the world. For months, we’ve been researching, discussing, and sifting through a vast collection of amazing cities, regions, and countries that offer new reasons to visit. The result is a definitive guide to the 24 best places to visit in 2024. The guide includes an extraordinary super bloom in Chile’s new national park, up-close wildlife encounters with Inuit guides in Canada, exciting community-led dining spots in Rwanda, and more. This exhaustive list is incredibly hard to narrow down, but it reflects how big, beautiful, diverse, and constantly changing our world is.
