Four soft drink and soda products distributed in New York City grocery stores have been recalled because they contained undeclared preservatives.
Charles Boghini, which sells beverage flavors, concentrates and a CBD nanoemulsion that mixes with water, has voluntarily recalled three lemonade drinks and flavor bases, according to an enforcement notice issued by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
The Connecticut-based company declined to comment further on the recall, according to USA TODAY. Here’s what you need to know about the recall:
Which products have been recalled?
These products, typically sold in 1 and 5 gallon sizes, are sold in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arizona, Michigan, Illinois and California. The recalled products and lot/unit numbers are:
Pink Lemonade, Lot/Unit No. 1-017, for undeclared FD&C Red No. 40Yellow Lemonade, Lot/Unit No. 1-065, for undeclared FD&C Yellow No. 5Yellow Lemonade X Drink, Lot/Unit No. 1-015, for undeclared FD&C Yellow No. 5Cola Flavor Base, Lot/Unit Nos. 9-330, 9-348, 1-013, 1-036, 1-097, for undeclared sulfites
FD&C Red No. 40 is a red dye in foods, drugs and cosmetics that has been linked to colon cancer, FD&C Yellow No. 5 is known to cause allergic reactions in some people, and sulfites can cause respiratory problems.

Companies are required to disclose the dyes, preservatives and other chemicals they use in their manufacturing or face recalls and fines.
