By Courtney Erickson | Published April 5, 2024
Utah’s tourism industry is booming, and with so many amazing places to visit, it’s easy to see why. From charming towns to breathtaking national parks, arts-focused attractions, museums, and more, the list of things to do in Utah is no small one. We write about the many must-visit destinations every week, but below are our favorite Utah attractions that should be on everyone’s bucket list, whether you’ve lived in this great state your whole life or are just visiting. How many of these Utah attractions have you visited?
1. Dead Horse Point State Park
Dead Horse Point State Park, UT-313, Moab, UT 84532, USA
Dead Horse Point State Park is home to one of the most photographed observation decks in the world, where you can capture views of the massive canyon walls, desert, and more. While the observation deck is not to be missed, there are also several hiking trails to explore. Plus, it’s an International Dark Sky Park, so on clear nights you can catch a breathtaking star show.
2. Park City
Park City, Utah, USA
Park City is a small resort town in Utah that has it all: amazing ski resorts, unforgettable restaurants, the most charming city life, and beauty that can’t be compared. Whether you’re an outdoor enthusiast, history buff, foodie, or family, you’ll find something that piques your interest in this Utah town. And while we love it in all seasons, we especially love winter.
3. Thanksgiving Point, Lehi
Thanksgiving Point, 3003 Thanksgiving Wyoming, Lehi, UT 84043, USA
Lehi’s Thanksgiving Point has something for everyone, and it’s hard to fit everything in a day. Stroll through the beautiful Ashton Gardens during the annual spring Tulip Festival. Travel back in time at the Museum of Ancient Life. The Natural Curiosity Museum features hundreds of interactive experiences for kids and adults. The Butterfly Ecosystem lets you get up close and personal with all kinds of butterflies and insects. And that’s just the beginning.
4. Temple Square (Salt Lake City)
Temple Square, 50 North Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84150, USA
Temple Square is a popular tourist attraction for many in the Salt Lake Valley. You can wander the grounds and gardens, see the many historical buildings, and even attend a live performance. It’s especially magical during the holiday season when Temple Square lights up with thousands of lights. The Salt Lake Temple is currently closed for renovations and some areas of Temple Square may be closed.
5. Zion National Park
Zion National Park, Utah, USA
Zion National Park may be one of the most famous tourist attractions in Utah, and for good reason. This breathtaking national park offers amazing views and some of the most amazing hiking trails (Angels Landing anyone?). We recommend visiting this national park in the winter to avoid the crowds and the scorching heat of Southern Utah.
6. Dinosaur National Monument
Quarry Visitor Center, 11625 E 1500 S, Jensen, UT 84035, USA
Dinosaur National Monument may seem a bit remote, but it’s one of those destinations you’ll never regret visiting. There are a variety of activities to enjoy here, but we recommend a visit to the Quarry Visitor Centre to see the vast collection of dinosaur bones. Have your camera handy, as the dinosaur bone walls are pretty impressive.
7. Tuacahn Center for the Arts, Ivins
Tuacahn Center for the Arts, 1100 Tuacahn Drive, Ivins, UT 84738, USA
Whether you’re an art lover or looking for something fun and memorable to do at night in Southern Utah, Tuacahn is a must-visit attraction. This attraction features a fantastic outdoor theater tucked away in the red rock mountains outside of St. George. This attraction offers all types of shows, from plays to concerts. Make sure to arrive early to explore the grounds. This is a great place.
8. Ski Resorts in Utah
Utah is home to over a dozen ski resorts, including Park City Mountain, one of the largest in the country. Ten of these resorts are within an hour of the Salt Lake City airport. Many locals have their favorite resorts, but you can’t go wrong with any of them. And don’t forget, Utah produces some of the best snow in the world.
9. Aggie Ice Cream, Logan
Aggie Ice Cream @ The Creamery, 750 N 1200 E, Logan, UT 84321, USA
I might be biased (I’m a Utah State University alumni), but the best ice cream in Utah, Aggie Creamery, is located in Logan. Located on USU’s Logan campus, this creamery dates back to 1888 and was originally established in a basement northeast of Old Main. Today, you can visit and enjoy flavorful ice creams, milkshakes, sundaes, and more. If you’re looking for an ice cream recommendation, Aggie Blue Mint is a local favorite, but I’m personally a fan of Aggie Space Debris, which is huckleberry ice cream with huckleberry and raspberry swirls, white chocolate, and fudge flakes.
10. Arches National Park
Arches National Park, Utah, USA
Utah’s national parks attract millions of people every year. We could put every national park on this list, but Arches National Park is one destination that really stands out. In fact, it’s so popular with locals and tourists alike that you’ll need to make a reservation to enter. While you’re in this national park, challenge yourself to count how many natural arches you see. The park is home to the highest concentration of natural stone arches in the world, with over 2,000 documented within the park.
11. Sand Hollow State Park
Sand Hollow State Park, 3351 Sand Hollow Road, Hurricane, UT 84737, USA
If you’re looking for a day in the sun, Sand Hollow State Park won’t disappoint. Not only is this state park home to a 1,300-acre reservoir, but it also has some amazing sand dunes that are perfect for splashing around in the sand. After a day at Sand Hollow, you won’t be in a rush to get home. Luckily, you’ll find some of the best campgrounds in Utah right here.
